What We Collect
Information You Provide
None! X204 Expert doesn't require an account. No email, no password, no personal information. The only information you provide is the questions you ask, which are:
- Sent to Dana AI to generate answers
- Not stored or logged by us
- Discarded after your answer is generated
Automatically Collected
We collect minimal anonymous data to improve the app:
- Device information: Device type (e.g., "iPhone 15 Pro"), iOS version (e.g., "iOS 17.2")
- App usage: Which features you use, how often you use the app, session length
- Analytics events: App launches, tab changes, feature usage (anonymous)
- Crash reports: If the app crashes, we receive anonymous crash logs to fix bugs
All of this data is completely anonymous. We cannot identify you as an individual.
What We Don't Collect
We explicitly DO NOT collect:
- Your name, email, or phone number
- Your location or GPS coordinates
- Your conversation content or history
- Your vehicle's VIN or registration
- Your photos or camera access
- Your contacts or calendar
- Any personally identifiable information
How We Use Data
Analytics
We use anonymous analytics to:
- Understand which features are most popular
- Identify and fix bugs
- Improve app performance and user experience
- Make product decisions about future features
AI Processing
Your questions are sent to Dana AI (our third-party AI provider) to generate answers. Dana AI:
- Receives your question text only
- Processes it against the X204 documentation
- Returns an answer
- Does not retain your questions after generating answers
Payments
All purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We:
- Never see your credit card or payment information
- Only receive confirmation that you've purchased premium
- Cannot access your Apple ID or personal details

Data shared: Your question text only
Data retention: Not retained after response is generated

Apple App Store
Purpose: App distribution and in-app purchases
Data shared: As per Apple's standard App Store policies
Your control: Managed through your Apple ID settings

TelemetryDeck
Purpose: Privacy-focused anonymous analytics
Data shared: Device type, iOS version, app usage events (all anonymous)
Data retention: 90 days, then deleted
Privacy policy: TelemetryDeck is designed for privacy and doesn't collect personal information
Your Rights
Right to Access
All your data (conversations) is stored on your iPhone. You have complete access to it anytime through the app. We don't store data about you on our servers, so there's nothing additional to access.
Right to Deletion
You can delete all your data at any time:
- Go to Settings > Clear All Data to delete all conversations
- Delete individual conversations in the History tab
- Uninstall the app to remove all local data
Since we don't store your conversations, there's nothing to delete on our end.
Right to Portability
You can export your conversations at any time:
- Open a conversation
- Tap the share icon
- Choose "Export as Text"
- Save or share the text file
Right to Opt-Out
You cannot opt out of essential services (Dana AI) as they're required for the app to function. However:
- Analytics are already anonymous and can't identify you
- You can limit data collection by not using optional features
- Uninstalling the app stops all data sharing
Data Security
We take data security seriously, even though we collect minimal data:
- Local storage: Conversations are stored on your iPhone using SwiftData, which uses iOS's built-in encryption
- Network security: All communication with Dana AI uses HTTPS encryption
- No account = no password: Since there's no account, there's no password to be stolen or leaked
- Minimal attack surface: We don't store user data on servers, so there's nothing to hack
Children's Privacy
X204 Expert is rated 4+ in the App Store and doesn't knowingly collect information from children:
- No account or personal information required
- All data collection is anonymous
- No social features or communication with other users
- Parental guidance recommended for vehicle repair information

International Users
X204 Expert is available worldwide. Please note:
- Your questions to Dana AI may be processed in data centers outside your country
- We comply with GDPR for EU users
- We comply with CCPA for California users
- All data handling follows industry best practices regardless of location
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes:
- We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top
- We'll notify users through an in-app message
- Continued use of the app means acceptance of the new policy
- You can always review the latest version at this page
Legal Compliance
We may disclose information if required by law:
- To comply with legal obligations or court orders
- To protect our rights or the rights of users
- To investigate fraud or security issues
However, since we don't collect personal information or store conversations, there's very little we could disclose even if requested.
