Getting Started

How do I download the app?

Visit the App Store listing for X204 Expert on your iPhone, or search for "X204 Expert" in the App Store. Tap "Get" to download and install. The app requires iOS 17.0 or later.

Do I need to create an account?

No! X204 Expert works without an account. Just download and start asking questions. Your conversations are stored locally on your device. No email, password, or personal information required.

How do I ask my first question?

Open the app, tap on the home screen, and either select a system category (like "V6 Engine" or "AWD System") or start a new conversation. Type your question in plain English and tap send. You'll get an answer in seconds.

Using X204 Expert

How do I ask a question?

Type your question naturally, as if asking a mechanic. Examples: "What oil does my 2012 X204 need?" or "Why is my check engine light on?" The AI understands natural language, so no special formatting needed.

Can I ask follow-up questions?

Yes! X204 Expert remembers the context of your conversation. You can ask follow-up questions like "How often should I change it?" and the AI will understand you're still talking about oil.

How do I use system categories?

On the home screen, you'll see categories like "V6 Engine", "7-Speed Auto", "AWD System", etc. Tap a category to see common questions, or tap to start a conversation focused on that system.

How do I save important answers?

Long-press on any message to see options. Tap "Bookmark" to save important answers. You can also copy messages to your clipboard or share them.

Can I search my conversation history?

Yes. Go to the History tab and use the search bar at the top. Search by keywords, dates, or topics. All your past conversations are saved locally on your device.

What X204 models are supported?

X204 Expert supports all X204 Compact SUV models from 2010-2015, including:

  • All engine variants
  • AWD configurations
  • RWD configurations

What year X204s work with this app?

Model years 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. This covers the entire X204 generation.

Will you add other vehicle models?

We're considering it! Right now X204 Expert is focused on providing the best possible experience for X204 owners. If we add other models, we'll announce it in the app and on this website.

Pricing & Usage

Is X204 Expert really free?

Yes, completely free forever. No trial period, no credit card required, no catches. You get 10 questions per day, unlimited conversations, and access to all features including AI maintenance checkups, PDF export, and vehicle tracking.

What are the paid tiers?

We offer optional paid tiers:

  • Personal ($4.99/month or $39.99/year): 20 questions/day — great if you want to support development or need a bit more capacity
  • Garage ($14.99/month or $119.99/year): 100 questions/day — designed for mechanics and professional use

Think of paid tiers as buying the dev team a coffee ☕ or upgrading for professional workshop use. The free tier gives you everything you need.

How many questions can I ask on the free tier?

You can ask 10 questions per day on the free tier. This limit resets every day at midnight local time. Most users need 3-5 questions per session, so 10/day is generous for typical use.

Why are there daily question limits?

AI processing costs about $0.01-0.05 per question. Daily limits keep the service sustainable while remaining free for everyone. We'd rather have a free-forever model with reasonable limits than charge everyone.

Do paid tiers get extra features?

No! All features are available to free users: AI maintenance checkups, PDF export, vehicle tracking, conversation history, voice input, and more. Paid tiers only increase your daily question limit.

How do I upgrade if I want to?

Go to Settings in the app and tap "Upgrade" to see the available tiers. Upgrades are handled through your Apple ID / App Store account. You can cancel anytime, and you'll keep access until the end of your billing period.

Technical Issues

The app won't load / crashes

Try these steps:

  1. Force quit the app (swipe up from bottom, swipe up on X204 Expert)
  2. Restart your iPhone
  3. Check for app updates in the App Store
  4. Make sure you have iOS 17.0 or later
  5. If problem persists, email support@mimmiu.ca with your iPhone model and iOS version

I'm not getting answers

Check these things:

  • Internet connection: X204 Expert requires WiFi or cellular data
  • Daily limits: If you've used 10 questions today, wait until midnight
  • Server status: Rarely, Dana AI may be temporarily unavailable

If you see an error message, try again in a few minutes. If the issue continues, contact support.

How do I report a bug?

Email support@mimmiu.ca with:

  • What you were doing when the bug occurred
  • What went wrong (error message, crash, wrong behavior)
  • Your iPhone model and iOS version (Settings > General > About)
  • Screenshots if applicable

How do I update the app?

Open the App Store, tap your profile icon (top right), scroll down to find X204 Expert in the updates list, and tap "Update". Or enable automatic updates in Settings > App Store > App Updates.

Data & Privacy

Where is my data stored?

Your conversations are stored locally on your iPhone using SwiftData (Apple's encrypted storage). We don't have access to your conversations. They never leave your device except when sent to Dana AI to generate answers.

Can you see my conversations?

No. Your questions are sent to Dana AI to generate answers, but we don't store or log them. Conversations are only stored on your iPhone. We collect anonymous analytics (app usage, feature usage) but never conversation content.

How do I delete my data?

Go to Settings > Clear All Data. This will permanently delete all your conversations, bookmarks, and conversation history from your device. This cannot be undone.

How do I export my data?

You can export individual conversations: Open a conversation, tap the share icon, and choose "Export as Text". This creates a text file you can save or share. We don't have a bulk export feature yet.

Using the Information

Can I trust the answers?

X204 Expert provides information from official documentation with citations. However:

  • It's an informational tool, not a diagnostic tool
  • AI can occasionally make mistakes or misinterpret questions
  • Always verify critical information with a qualified mechanic
  • Use it to understand your vehicle, not as a replacement for professional service

Should I show this to my mechanic?

Yes! Many users find it helpful to share their X204 Expert conversations with their mechanic. It can help explain symptoms, clarify technical terms, and save time during your service appointment. Use the share feature to export conversations.

What if the answer seems wrong?

If you believe an answer is incorrect, please email us at support@mimmiu.ca with:

  • The question you asked
  • The answer you received
  • Why you think it's wrong (with source if possible)

We review all feedback and update our knowledge base when needed.

Can I use this to diagnose problems?

X204 Expert can help you understand symptoms and possible causes, but it cannot diagnose problems remotely. For actual diagnosis, you need:

  • A qualified mechanic to inspect the vehicle
  • Proper diagnostic tools (OBD-II scanner, etc.)
  • Hands-on testing and verification

Use X204 Expert to be more informed, not to replace professional diagnosis.

Troubleshooting Guide

Issue: App says "No internet connection"

Solution:

  • Check WiFi or cellular data is enabled
  • Try loading a web page in Safari to verify internet works
  • Go to Settings > X204 Expert and ensure "Cellular Data" is enabled
  • Restart the app

Issue: Answers are slow or not loading

Solution:

  • Check your internet connection speed
  • Complex questions may take 10-15 seconds to process
  • Try again in a few minutes
  • If it continues, contact support - there may be a service issue

Issue: How do I report wrong information?

Solution:

Email support@mimmiu.ca with the question and answer. Include why you think it's wrong and any sources. We review all feedback and improve our knowledge base.
